Here's some stuff I wrote and why!
*(Steven Gaylord was our “Special Child”. Almost 42 years of age, he had never spoken. He had just been transferred
close to our home which made it easier for us to take him out for hamburgers and milkshakes which he loved. He lived
in a group home. He loved to look through catalogs. He had a memory like an elephant. Stevie choked on a sandwich Feb. 14th, 2003. This poem was read at his Memorial Service, where we planted a tree in his
honor.)
There’s a hole in our lives that you used to fill.
A space that is empty, it’s a bittersweet pill.
For we know in our hearts you are in a land
Much greater in beauty- we’re sure it is grand!
A home eternal where you can run
With happy companions - you’re having fun.
A place where the Lord with His nail-scarred hand
Wiped your fears away while an angel band
Smiled with love, joy and kindness too
Showed a home especially prepared for you.
Yes, we miss you .. we always will
Your impish smile is with us still
