Gasoline

Gasoline
For twenty two years we drove out to the Tulsa State Fair in our camper pulling a trailer with two or three Taylormilkshake machines chained in it . These weighed over 800 pounds each. With the four sinks, a refrigerator, 7 counters and other equipment, it was a heavy load. We always prayed for safety and success on these trips. About 1994 we kept smelling gasoline in the camper from time to time. I investigated as well as I knew how and couldn’t find any gas leak. After the fair was over, we smelled it again when we started up the motor. We found a man who would work on it. (No dealer really wanted to take on the job and gave us various excuses.)
We don’t recall his name, but he crawled under the gas tank (60 gallon capacity) with a rag and let out a slow whistle! “You folks should have been burned up like roman candles,” he said. The rag was soaked with raw gasoline. There was an indentation built into the top of our gasoline tank about the size of a 2”x 2” by 8” cookie pan. From here the gasoline was pumped to the motor. A return line that delivered any surplus gas back into the tank had rusted out. Excess gasoline was being sprayed over the tank and to make matters even more dangerous, the furnace and refrigerator were within two feet of this raw gasoline. They both used an open flame.
It took three days and over a thousand dollars to repair it...but fix it he did and we Praise the Lord that all the gasoline that was sprayed around those open flames did not “light us up like Roman Candles on 4th of July!”
