Most alcoholics take their first drink betwen 14 and 17 years of age. This was true in my life. I got into my Dad's whiskey at 14 and wound up an alcoholic. AA helped me recover. I had my last beer in 1960. (They closed the Falstaff Brewery then). I found the Lord and started making talks. I don't know who gave me these slides...I would sure give them credit. But the following will give you some insight into what ethyl alcohol does in your body.
Compare whiskey, wine and beer.. Mostly I drank only beer.
One Bottle of Beer.
Three Bottles.
After Five Beers.
Almost a case.
A column by the late Ann Landers.
This was in 1968. Almost every edition carries a story of someone who got in trouble as a result of drinking. Alcohol puts your brain to sleep starting with the inhibitor. So people say and do things under the influence that they would never do otherwise!
A chart showing the progression of alcoholism.. Wish I could find one of these charts. It shows a graphic path on a downward spiral that was certainly true in my life.
